The Last King of Scotland on DVD

The Last King of Scotland was an award winning film of 2006, including best actor for Forest Whitaker at the academy awards this year. The film is now released on DVD both in the UK in the United States.
Based on the book written by Giles Foden, the film tells the story of Nicholas Garrigan a fresh Scottish medical school graduate played James McAvoy who is on a mission trip to the African nation of Uganda to help relieve the unfortunate poverty of a small town. Along the way, Garrigan makes a new acquaintance who he later befriends.
The film is critical acclaimed for its performances as well as McDonald’s direction. as well received numerous awards from the Academy, the golden globes, the Screen Actors Guild and the BAFTAs.
The film received a 2007BAFTA Award for Best British film. It also received BAFTA awards for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best British Film, in addition to receiving nominations for Best Supporting Actor (James McAvoy) and Best Film.
