The greatest thing to hit the small screen now comes to the big screen, the Simpsons movie people. Produced by the creator Matt Groening and James L. brooks as well as the same bunch from the television series, the film is directed by David Silverman who has directed classic Simpson’s episodes like “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire” (First Simpsons episode), “Treehouse of horror I, IV, XIII,XV,XVI,XVII” “Bart gets an F” and many others.

We’re going to put some fake plots out there, just to make it interesting.

-James L. Brooks

Not much as been said about the plot of the film, little information as been revealed, all is know it that the film roughly starts with Bart who skateboards through Springfield naked, eventually going full-frontal after he has been dared by Homer, The film begins with a growing environmental crisis to which Homer adds.

“I can’t imagine people look in the TV section of the newspaper and think, ‘I’ll watch this week’s Simpsons because I like the plot.’ You just tune in and see what happens.”

-Matt Groening

There is also a growing environmental crisis to which Homer adds. Albert Brooks plays a character attempting to take over the world, and Lisa may get a boyfriend who is a green-activist.

A test screening of the film has been shown in Portland, Oregon and later Tempe, Arizona, the reviews for the early screening is positive even with unfinished animation, music, and 3D effects.

The film was nominated in the category “Best Summer Movie you haven’t seen Yet” at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, but lost to Transformers. The film’s trailer won a Golden Trailer Award in the category “Best Animated/Family Film Trailer” at the 8th Annual Golden Trailer Awards.

The film is set to open worldwide on July 27, 2007, with the UK release date having been moved forward a day to July 26, 2007.

The good Shepherd is now released on DVD, Robert de Niro second film as a director starring Matt Damon Angelina Jolie, William Hunt Alec Baldwin, Billy Crudup, Michael Gambon, Timothy Hutton, Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro appears in the film as well.

It is a fictional film that loosely based on real events, telling the untold story of the birth of counter-intelligence in the Central Intelligence Agency. Edward Wilson (Matt Damon) is loosely based on James Jesus Angleton. Richard M Bissell Jr is based on William hurt’s character, Phillip is based on Allen Dulles and General Bill Sullivan, played by Robert De Niro, is Loosely based on Colonel William Joseph Donovan.

The film received mixed reviews; it was given 55% from rotten tomatoes, which is a certification of “Rotten”. The film did however receive positive reviews for the performances.

Times Magazine
“Matt Damon is terrific in the role — all-knowing, never overtly expressing a feeling. Indeed, so is everyone else in this intricate, understated but ultimately devastating account of how secrets, when they are left to fester, can become an illness, dangerous to those who keep them, more so to nations that base their policies on them.”

De Niro has been praised for his direction.

David Ansen of Newsweek
, “For the film’s mesmerizing first 50 minutes I thought De Niro might pull off the “Godfather” of spy movies… Still, even if the movie’s vast reach exceeds its grasp, it’s a spellbinding history lesson.”

Special Features include

15 Deleted Scenes

Controversy filmmaker Michael Moore release his new documentary film “Sicko” a political film on the ferocious attack on the US health care industry.

The film deals with expensive American health system hated by the majority of the population. Moore accompanies a number of rescue workers injured the 99/11 attacks to the U.S Guantanamo Bay detainment camp, before moving to Havana in Cuba, so they can receive medical treatment they would otherwise not be able to afford. The documentary includes a story about a women whose daughter died because the nearest hospital couldn’t couldn’t treat her and a man who was told the cost of reattaching his two finger would be $60,000 for the middle finger and $12,000 for the ring finger.

Moore as well has interviews with people who died before the film was finished, it also shows the comparison of health care from Canada, France and the United Kingdom where Moore himself travels to each of these countries and investigates each of their health systems.

The New York Times

Sicko “presents a series of heart-rending anecdotes meant to illustrate systemic failures and foul-ups under the nation’cystss insurance industry – even if many of the major pieces of evidence are ones that have been widely reported elsewhere and in some cases date back 20 years,”

Karen Ignagni, president of Washington trade group America’s Health Insurance Plans

“If the movie results in members of Congress and governors putting this issue squarely on the table as the No. 1 priority, we will be part of that discussion and will welcome it,”

Sicko will be released in Canada and the United States on June the 29th, Moore will be asserting concerns about America’s health care system are second only to the Iraq war.

One of this years Oscar nominees for best pictures is now available on DVD, “Babel” starring brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett and Gael Garcia Bernal. Directed by Alejandro Gonz·lez IÒ·rritu, Babel is his third film of his death trilogy. “Amores perros” 2000, “21 Grams” in 2003 and now “Babel” for 2006

The film is a multi-narrative movie with waving stories together from Morocco, Japan, Mexico and the United States.

Richard Jones (Brad Pitt) and his wife Susan (Cate Blanchett) come under fire from an unseen sniper, Susan is badly injured and the two are stuck in the heat of Morocco.

In Africa two siblings fight over their father’s new rifle, two brothers played by Boubker Ait El Caid, and Said Tarchini

The story in Tokyo involves a deaf-mute student called Chieko (Rinko Kikuchi) explores her sexuality and try to establish a new relationship with her father, a estranged businessman played by Koji Yakusho.

In the United States a Mexican housekeeper called Amelia played by Adriana Barraza who takes care of her employer’s children for the weekend. She then accompanies her reckless nephew Santiago to a family wedding across the border ends in disaster.

Babel consists of a thrilling visual style, spawning emotional themes, and give a vast arc of storytelling in such a large canvas. The film is shot in four different languages with outstanding performances from each member of the cast.

Now on DVD I highly recommend this feature, without a doubt one of the finest films of the year. Reuniting with screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga, Mexican filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu directs “an exquisite multi-lingual thriller, which draws together four seemingly unrelated storylines, finding that suffering and redemption traverse language and geographical boundaries.”

This two-disc DVD includes:
“Common Ground: Under Construction Notes” 90-minute feature-length making of video diary.
Rating: 5/5

Shrek has become one of the most popular film series in recent years, well received for its two feature length movies, now this year the third chapter arrives titled “Shrek the Third” this computer animated comedy film is produced by Jerrrey Katzenberg for DreamWorks animation and is distributed by Paramount Pictures. The following stars return Mike Myers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona, Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots John Cleese as King Harold
and Julie Andrews as Queen Lillian. It also has the introduction of Eric Idle as the new character Merlin.

Like the first two features, the movie is based on fairly tales and myths from other countries. When, King Harold falls ill his new son-in-law Shrek is looked at as the heir to the land of Far, Far Away. However Shrek doesn’t want to leave his swamp so he and friends Donkey and Puss in Boots come together to install the rebellious Artie as the new king. Meanwhile Princess Fiona, rallies a band of royal girlfriends to fend off a coup d’etat by the jilted Prince Charming.

“Shrek the Third” has achieved the best opening weekend ever for an animated film, and the third best overall with opening in 4, 122 cinemas on May 18 and grossed total of $122.9 million. However unlike the previous two, Shrek three has not shared the same enthusiasm from both audience and critics. It only received 43% fresh from Rotten Tomatoes, one fault the film has been loped with that this film instead is more targeted at the parents rather than the kids, jokes that Children wouldn’t understand or reference to other movies like “Monty Python and the Holy grail” with the parody coconut gag.

David Ansen

“its slightly snarky wit is aimed almost entirely at parents… this one never touched my heart or got under my skin. It’s a movie at war with itself: a kiddie movie that doesn’t really want to be one”

Neil Nisperos staff writer for the lampocrecord.com

“That’s not to say Shrek 3 isn’t an entertaining diversion on a Saturday afternoon, especially for kids. It’s chock full of innocent farty-poopy humor, pratfalls and sight gags galore that won’t disappoint most under the age of 9”

Here is a positive review if this these negative are disappointing you.

A.O Scott from The New York Times

“seems at once more energetic and more relaxed [than its predecessors], less desperate to prove its cleverness and therefore to some extent, smarter.”
I my self enjoyed the film, and enjoyed the company of the returning characters as well as the new ones. One view that was shared was that there are too many Characters to love, well I say the more the merrier, and as a python fan loved seeing Eric Idle and John Cleese names both on the title.

Peter Zaslay the Art Director of the film has stated in an interview that there will be following installments, a Christmas special titled “Shrek the halls” which is the follow-up to “Sherk the Third” then continue will Shrek 4 and according to Antonia Banderas there will be in fact a fifth film, plus a puss in boots movie.

Sherk the third was released in the United States on May 18 2007 it will be released in the UK on 29th of June 2007
